Football is one of the most popular sports in the United States, with over 100 million fans waiting for the Super Bowl every year.The culture of the sport is also felt in high school, which senior Luciano Alvarez knows this very well.

Alvarez has been playing football since his sophomore year at Phoenix and enjoys playing as the team’s kicker. Besides football, Alvarez also has big plans for the future.

Alvarez wants to become an electrician or mechanic and plans to attend a community college in Chicago.

“I want to keep my GPA at 3.0 or better for the Star scholarship. I want to go to a community college,” said Alvarez.

Alvarez is taking 2 Advanced Placement classes and hopes to pass them both for college credit. He  is taking rigorous classes in order to be prepared for the future.

However, he does not plan to play football after high school.

“I am playing for fun and I had some good times,” said Alvarez.

His biggest motivation is his parents. Their hard work means a lot to him and he plans to repay them for everything they have given up for him.

“My parents motivate me because I don’t want them to be working as hard as they do,” said Alvarez.

Alvarez is ready for his future after Phoenix and  and he hopes to accomplish great things and be successful.
