Figueroa’s Plans

Senior Yadira Figueroa plans on attending Malcolm X one of the Chicago City Colleges, after graduation, and plans to find a career that involves working with children.

Figueroa has worked with kids a lot, which is why she is now interested in a career that involves kids.

“I want to be involved in a career that involves working with kids. I’m thinking about nursing,” said Figueroa.

Malcolm X is one of the many City Colleges that offers a program that allows students to get their degree in nursing in two years.

The program requires students to complete four prerequisite courses before admission.

Figueroa will have completed these courses upon admission.

Figueroa is focused on working hard to accomplish those goals and pass her Advanced Placement and honors classes. Figueroa is currently taking AP Psychology, AP Spanish Literature, and Honors Pre-Calculus.

She has not been involved in any after school activities since last year because she is occupied with babysitting.

“ I take care of kids after school with my cousins and my sisters,’’ said Figueroa.

The last school activity Figueroa was involved in was the Gay Straight Alliance for the 2017-2018 school year.

“ Last year I was involved in GSA,” said Figueroa.

Figueroa does not plan on joining the Gay Straight Alliance this year, so she can focus on her Advanced Placement and honors classes.
