“Playoffs Are Our’s This Year”
The two week break before playoffs is going by fast for the boy’s basketball team.
This is Phoenix’s second time competing at a city playoff competition. In the past, Phoenix lost their playoff game by two points against Orr Academy High School.
“The family bond has become stronger, and the team has become smarter. There is no more losing for our team,” said junior Kenny Wilkerson.
The playoffs will be played against Al Raby High School. Phoenix’s record for the season so far is 8-7. Having lost to multiple teams the boys are praying to take the playoffs home and move forward to state championship.
“ Having faith in each other and themselves is what will carry the boys a long way,” said Coach Lo”.
Twenty- five boys are on the team and twelve will be playing in the playoffs. Junior captains Khalid Herron, Vinquan Randle, and Eddie Fox have been leading the team the entire season.
“ Making sure everyones attitude is correct, and the whole team knows the goal is my number one job,” said Herron.
The team’s goal is to end the season with a W and start a new legacy.
