A chess game is divided into three stages: the first, when you hope you have the advantage, the second when you believe you have an advantage, and the third when you know you’re going to lose. When you see a good move, look for a better one!

According to some cadets, Phoenix now has an official chess team! They competed in their first chess match on November 28, 2017.

Cadets originally asked teachers around the school to start a club and Mr. Boehm, the Engineering teacher decided to host the team. They have been spending after school hours practicing and studying many techniques, and getting as many matches as they can against one another.

The results of this match should be interesting, as it is the first match of the year and most of all something Pma has never had before. Coach Boehm has been taking the initiative to find other schools to compete against.

They competed against a grammar school.

“ I think it should be a good time for us to compete against these kids but also show them a few moves to help them get better,” said Coach Boehm.
