Chicago Scholars Onsite
Many seniors took time out of their summer to attend workshops with Ms.Bosques and prepare for the Onsite. Cadets had to complete the Common App ahead of time, meet specific deadlines, and complete supplement essays. At the Onsite, one hundred and seventy nine selective colleges and universities from across the nation will interview one-on-one with the Chicago Scholars Class of 2022. Scholars interviewed up to six best match-fit colleges and received college admissions.
“Prior to the OnSite day, I was feeling really nervous, especially since talking about myself. I first thought that I was going to be interviewed one-on-one in a room but it was almost the complete opposite,” said Senior Jasmine Alamilla.
Seniors Alexandra Rivera, Acacia Tamil, America Sanchez, Christian C and many others worked extremely hard to prepare for this special day. Cadets started their day with breakfast provided and after students are welcomed and start orientation. Most students had their college do same day decision or at least interviews with a admission counselor. Many seniors went home with college acceptances and scholarships.
“Dominican gave me the Presidential Scholarship of $18,000, Family Allowance of $1,000, On site scholarship of $2,500, and I am also still waiting for more merit based scholarships,” said Senior Aristeo Martinez.
Every student wanted to give a huge thanks to Ms.Bosques and the counselors for all the “behind the scene” work of handling transcripts and revising essay everyday.
