Have you ever woken up to workout at 5:30 in the morning? This is routine for the Raiders.

Senior Aldo Rojas is a Raider at Phoenix Military Academy who practices all year around to compete at Westinghouse. They practice by running, doing push ups and lifting weights.

Rojas has been a Raider since sophomore year, Raiders get to wear their ACU on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Raiders practice from 6:30-7:10 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

“I regret not joining my freshman year in raiders,“ said Rojas.

Some of the requirements to be a Raider are running a mile in 7 minutes for guys or 10 minutes for girls and both need to be able to do push-ups and sit-ups. The more push-ups and sit-ups a person can do the better their chances are of becoming a Raider.

The Raiders will compete at Westinghouse on September 30th. Their competition includes    many categories like how many push-ups and  sit-ups they can do.

“ You need to go to practice and practice on your own,” said Rojas.

In practice they do Physical Readiness Training (PRT), they run and sometimes they lift weights according to Rojas.

“One of the benefits in hat raiders works you out a lot so you are always in shape and you are healthy,” said Rojas.
