Sammy’s New Year’s Resolutions

Every year, people all over the world start off the new year with goals set to better themselves. Phoenix’s very own, Sammy Ortega, has some New Year’s resolutions this year, but they are not exactly traditional. Usually, New Year’s resolutions are simple things such as eating better, working out. losing weight, Sammy, for the year of 2017, plans on staying exactly the same.

“Yes, my one and only New Year’s Resolution is to stay exactly the same,”said Senior Sammy Ortega.

Ortega does not want to change himself this year because of his accomplishments in 2016. Ortega joined Kuumba Lynx, attended the Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colorado, won 5th place in the Louder than a Bomb competition, performed at the Preston Bradley hall in the Chicago Cultural Center and got published in the Chicago Tribune and Southside weekly. Ortega has had a pretty successful year. To continue on with this successful streak, Ortega intends to change nothing about himself.

“ I just feel like I need to be consistent with the things that I do. So, what better way to be that is to start off the new year continuing what I was originally doing” said Ortega.

Ortega is hoping to have an even more successful year in 2017 than the year prior.
