Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” Review
January 11, 2017
Donald Glover’s (Childish Gambino) new album is nothing like we have seen in the past. We first listened to his rap from his song 3005 that was released on the year of 2013. Childish Gambino finally released another album on December 2nd of this year. This album has made us see another great part of his talent. He went from writing Hip-hop/rap to writing Contemporary R&B music a new genre for him as an artist. When he decided to take the path of a psychedelic soul/funk album. This new album allows you to relax after a long day with its amazing guitars and drums in the background.
The album “Awaken,My love” gives off a 70’s vibe with its beats and the way that the songs resemble the music that was made in that decade. When looking at the lyrics of the songs the meaning behind it can be clearly seen from the song “stand Tall” where he talks about him remembering the advice that his parents gave him when he was younger. The advice that they gave him was to never give up on his dreams and to always stay positive. This advice is something that can be seen throughout his career seeing how now he is a comedian, a music artist and an actor. This advice from his parents allowed him to succeed in life.
This new album came out in the most competitive months of the year when it comes to music. The album was the first album to be released this month from other artist that were going to release their albums in December and still managed to make a big impact in the music we listen to allowing to try out a new type of music. This album has a new approach to the daily listeners allowing new type of music to pass by in their playlist. Because of that ,The album “Awaken ,My love!” Gets a 4 out of 5 while it still has great beats and great message behind it it still lacks some of its flow.
