Cheerleading ranges from yelling to intense physical activity. Cheerleading isn’t just dancing, it’s a sport that takes a lot of hard work and dedication.

Senior Donecia Blount is the captain of the cheerleading team at Phoenix Military Academy. She has been cheering all 4 years of high school. Blount enjoys cheering for the boys at football and basketball games, she loves getting the crowd pumped up. Cheering helps her stand out, she is loud and loves to smile. She likes making people happy.

“Dancing for the homecoming game and pep rally was my proudest moment,” said Blount.

Cheerleading isn’t just yelling or dancing, practice can sometimes be long when preparing a routine. It isn’t easy when half of the team understands the routine and the others don’t.

“When a stunt fails and everyone blames the flyers or the base is my pet peeve,” said Blount.

Blount plays other sports but she enjoys cheer the most. She loves the bows, the glitter, and the uniforms. She loves cheer and everything about it.Senior Blount enjoys cheerleading, she wants to cheer in college and hopes to become apart of an all star team one day.
