Arsenal Defeat Reading 2-0

Arsenal defeat Reading 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in order to advance to the 5th round of the EFL cup. Goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the first and second half secured the win. There were at times that Reading looked dangerous but ,in the end, it was a solid win for Arsenal by creating many chances and dominating in possession.
The starting lineup changed significantly and it was composed of second team players. Carl Jenkinson finally played his first game for Arsenal after being out on loan and suffering an injury last January.
Olivier Giroud also made his first appearance as a substitute for Lucas Perez. The last game Giroud played for Arsenal was against PSG in the Champions League on September 13th, where he received a red card and was sidelined from injury for a couple of weeks.
The last time both teams met in the EFL cup was in 2012 where the final score was 5-7. Many Arsenal fans were excited for this fixture expecting an easy win for Arsenal because they have never lost to Reading in the 9 times that they have met. The fans left the stadium pleased with the win and will wait for the next EFL cup fixture against Southampton on November 28.
This win now leaves Arsenal with 13 unbeaten games since the opening day of the Premier League, where Arsenal lost 4-3 to Liverpool. Arsenal is currently in hot form and their next game is in the Premier League against Sunderland on October 29th.
