No Breakfast Support From School
By: Veronica Perez
People say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that we should not be skipping it. However there are some students that wake up at 5 A.M. and go the whole school day without really eating anything until they get home.
A senior at Phoenix Military Academy goes on to talk about her eating habits during a school days.
“I eat cereal every morning but I always get hungry in my second period, which is why I try to eat something at lunch time because it helps me get more energy for the rest of the day. Not eating gives me headaches and if I have a headache I do not concentrate.”
Students, at times, eat something in the morning but it is not the best thing they wish they could eat.
Senior Lisset Lott goes on to explain what her favorite breakfast food is at school is, “Waffles would be the best for breakfast. I’ve eaten it 3-6 times this year.”
When a student does not eat, it does not allow them to focus in class. There are many things that the school lunchroom can do to try to improve the number of students that show up for breakfast. One thing that they can do is have more options. They can also let students know what they will serve before school starts so that the student can discuss whether or not they should eat at school or at home.
I understand that this could be a long process to fix and it might cost a lot of money. However if we create a garden at school in which we have students choose what they want to harvest than it will helps so that the school does not spend a lot of money.
