iPhone SE

April 5, 2016
On Monday, March 21, 2016, Apple announced their new product the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE will be the smallest of the iPhone’s lineup since the release of the iPhone 5s. The new revamped phone will look similar to the iPhone 5S but still have some of the new features as the iPhone 6S. A lot of changes have been made in order for the iPhone SE to be a smaller smartphone.
Since the trend of the smartphones of bigger-is-better, Apple has decided to flip that and go back to the small compact smartphone. Due to high demand, the iPhone SE will have a 4 inch screen, metal body, and touch ID fingerprint scanner. This change has allowed Apple to add in more features due to the smaller, compact size. This means more battery life, double the processing power, and four times the graphic performance – something that the iPhone 5s lacked in.
“Some people simply love smaller phones. And the 4in phone is often their first iPhone. Some people have asked and pleaded us. So we’re calling it the iPhone SE. Our most powerful 4in phone ever,” said Greg Joswiak, VP of product marketing for Apple.
The iPhone SE will have similar features as the iPhone 6S. It will have Apple’s A9 processor, an NFC chip, and a better 12-megapixel camera. Something new that Apple announced is the price.
The iPhone will be starting at $399 in the U.S, $100 lower than the iPhone 5S. The iPhone SE will be released on March 31st and Apple will take orders starting March 24. The iPhone SE will be available in Space Gray, Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold. Apple targeted this iPhone for people that may not be able to afford other previous iPhone products.
