Superhot brings new ideas to FPS shooters

March 30, 2016
Superhot is an independently developed first-person shooter video game, created by Superhot Team. The game was released on February 25, 2016 for Microsoft Windows and OS X and will be released in March 2016 for the Xbox One. Superhot gained a significant amount of reception after a Kickstarter in 2013, the team soon decided to develop a full game.
Superhot is a first-person shooter video game, but follows along with a twist. Time only moves when the player, yourself, moves. This give the player time on how to manage the situation which is take out faceless enemies using resources too. The game uses a three colors – red, white, black – in total to help the player focus on the mission.
Superhot is a breath of fresh air to the gaming world. It offers exciting, unique, and challenging moments. The idea of time moving only when you move makes you the tactician. If you don’t use the mechanic wisely, you leave opportunities open for the enemy. The game gives you a different feel because you can actually experience the moment in a shootout by stopping time and evaluating the scenario while choosing your next move.
Only problem I have with the game is that I feel the price is a bit excessive for its retail price, but I’ve seen many people beat the game in under three hours. I deem this game an indie and I’m sure others can agree. Other than that, the game is amazing, but if the developers were to add a game mode such as a Level Editor, it would be stellar.
Overall, I give this game 5 out of 5 stars because it still has opportunity and features than can make it even better. However, on a standalone, it can be quite a memorable game for its oppositions.
