Christmas Mixer

Tis the season to be together, and what better way to do this than to enjoy a Christmas party. On December 11th, 2015, the Brotherhood and Sisterhood united for a Christmas gift exchange in the Sisterhood room to celebrate their Christmas spirit.
“It was such a great time because it was the first time this year that brotherhood and sisterhood come together and enjoy a holiday party,” said senior Suleiny Maldonado.
The meeting first began with everyone entering and dropping their gift off in the center of the room, then everyone got snacks. All the students mingled until the beginning of the white elephant gift exchange, which many of them had never been apart of.
“I was apart of a secret santa once, it’s different because we actually got assigned to people,” said junior Francisco Franco.
White elephant is a gift exchange in which everyone who attends must bring a wrapped coed gift to receive a number card. After receiving the number card, the numbers are called in order and the person picks a random gift from the gift table.
“I received money and others got little toys or candy ,” said Franco.
After a few people picked out their gifts, a new rule was added to the event. The rule was that you may choose to switch gifts, during your turn, if you dislike it and wanted one that was already selected.
“It was a good way to keep the momentum going and it made it exciting all the way through,” said Franco.
The event also invited people to discuss what they were thankful for after they picked out their gift.
“I was thankful for my family because without them, I wouldn’t be here,” said Maldonado.
