Garry McCarthy Fired By Mayor Emmanuel

Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was forced to resign by Mayor Rahm Emanuel in an attempt to start change for the city of Chicago’s police department. It took 407 days from the day of the Laquan McDonald shooting until McCarthy was fired and there is still more punishment to be handed out across the board of CPD because McCarthy wasn’t the only person that had something to do with the killing of McDonald. Emanuel was pressured by protesters who have been requesting for some type of action to be made on the account of the shooting of Laquan McDonald.

“Superintendent McCarthy knows that a police officer is only as effective as when he has the trust of those he serves,” Emanuel said at a morning news conference.

The U.S. Department of Justice will investigate Chicago Police Department according to sources.  Chicago protesters say that they are fed up with CPD thinking that they can use brutality just because they have a badge.

This has become a big issue in America over the past 3 years and it has to stop before things get out of control. McCarthy was fired because he knew about the video but chose to cover it up to save others job and the reputation of the department.

“Now is the time for fresh eyes and leadership,” Emanuel said at the news conference.

The plan is that if we have new leadership that our society would become safer for policies and for the citizens of Chicago. It had to be done sooner or later because there hasn’t been much change while superintendent McCarthy was in charge of the CPD.
