Homecoming Flash Mob
November 6, 2015
Senior Kaymee Antonio wanted to leave her mark at Phoenix Military Academy the year before she left off to college. On the day of homecoming, she planned a flash mob to take place with a group of other seniors who had practiced with her the week before.
Antonio had gotten the idea from Senior Vianey Dominguez who had the idea the summer before and had wanted to make her idea a reality. With the support of Antonio they were able to make this possible.
This year’s theme for homecoming was Motown, a theme the seniors were not too familiar with, making it a little difficult to choose relevant songs for the flash mob.
“We tried to pick songs that would fit with the theme of this year’s homecoming theme: Motown, without having to use the songs from that exact time period. Instead, we chose songs everyone was familiar with that had a little bit of influence of Motown in its music,” said Antonio
But before the Seniors could take place in the flash mob they had to have permission from their superiors.
“We spoke to Mrs. Tobias, our S-5 Raianna Matchem, our school dj Abraham Velazquez, as well as fellow seniors who would like to participate,” said Antonio
Once the time came to execute the flash mob Antonio and the other seniors caught everyone by surprise and performed a well choreographed dance, catching the attention of the whole gym and radiating the theme of Motown.
Antonio wishes to make the flash mob a tradition with the upcoming senior classes having all of them put their own twist to it.
